Call For Papers: The First Dress Conference of the African Diaspora

DEADLINE: FRIDAY 17 NOVEMBER

The Costume Institute of the African Diaspora (CIAD) is a resource hub for anyone with an interest in costume, fashion, textiles and adornments from Africa and the African Diaspora. In May 2018, CIAD will hold the first ever dress conference of the African Diaspora, which will seek to understand how African Diaspora communities came to be visually represented, or established their identities through clothing and adornment.

Ph.D./ MA students, researchers, and curators are invited to present papers at the conference using case studies, collections or current research about the way people of African heritage have been made to, or have chosen to use clothing and adornment to visually represent themselves. Interested? Visit MyArts to find out more.
