A Symposium organised by the MRes Art: Theory and Philosophy Staff.
28 May 2016
3.30pm to 6pm
From the selfie to self-production in contemporary art and visual media, the self has become an increasingly prevalent and recurring framework for representation in the social imaginary today. The symposium Selfing considers the economies of experience at stake in modes of self-representation today and how these might impact on notions of visibility and invisibility, regulation and pleasure in contemporary ideas about subjectivity and art.
Speakers: Karl Baker, Christopher Kul-Want, Erica Scourti, Duncan White, Gregory Williams.
The presentations will be followed by discussion and drinks.
