MA Communication Design Symposium  

15 – 17 March, 10am – 4pm | LVMH Lecture Theatre

 

The MA Communication Design Symposium is a three-day annual conference highlighting post-graduate research. Speakers include: Nick BellBillie MurabenPolly O’Flynn and James Langdon.

In addition to student presenters, each day will begin with keynotes delivered by speakers from industry and academia, followed by three panel presentation and discussion sessions.

Art and Action

Thursday 17 March | The Street

 

Art and Action is the culmination of Foundation Fine Art students’ engagement with energy usage, housing, waste and disaster. The project collaborates with Art Action UK, an arts organisation founded by CSM Foundation tutor Kaori Homma in response to the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

This event will showcase two and three-dimensional works, films, performances, and a postcard fundraiser. The audience can also participate in debates and workshops, beginning at 1pm with Jessica Holtaway’s ‘Art and Social Change’ lecture.

Our Laughter will Drown Your Sorrows showcases the work of over 70 CSM postgraduate art students, all in the first year of their Postgraduate courses, MA Art & Science, MA Fine Art, and MA Photography. 

Exhibiting work from across the full scope of media available to artists today, including, painting, sculpture, video, performance, and interactive works, Our Laughter Will Drown Your Sorrows showcases work that needs to be made and needs to be shown.

Gender Without Borders – Noreen O’Connor

Tracing the Future, Naoya Hatakeyama

In response to the 5th anniversary of Great Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan, “Tracing the Future, Naoya Hatakeyama” directed by Yohei Hatakeyama in 2015 will be screened in conjunction with an exhibition at the Victorian Vitrine entitled “Rikuzentakata”, the name of a city that was swept away by the tsunami on 11 March 2011.
